Monday's Musing

The thought for today:

I am not a patient person, but it seems like this whole writing process has forced it on me: Patience. Time is not measured in minutes or hours or days, but months and years. I’m looking over my projected list for the 2015 year. Me. The one who has no idea what I’m doing next week. But that’s my regular life. This writing life has a time table of its own.

The lineup for this week is a little different than normal: Indie Life and What’s Up Wednesday on Wednesday, A cover reveal for Moonless, the lovely Crystal Collier’s debut book on Thursday, and the normal Express Yourself and Celebrating the Small Things on Friday. Hope to see you then!

  1. I don't know what I'm doing next week either! I think it makes like more adventurous that way. But yeah, we have to plan the writing stuff like a job.

  2. Have a plan and goals are both so important though.

  3. You should see my calendar. I'm such a planner! Growing up, my dad would host scheduling sessions with our family every week--where we coordinated everyone's schedules. I thought it was way over the top--but lo and behold, what do we do every Sunday? I might die without my calendar.

Whew! What an exciting week ahead!

    1. This is so funny and SO GOOD, Crystal.

Yep...we continue what we learned as children.

  4. I'm not patient either, Melanie. My stubborn streak saves me. :)

  5. Scheduling is great. I love the comments.

I am an organizer, but we never got together to sync our schedules. :)

    GREAT POST.

Here is a link back to my blog if you care to stop by.

  6. Next week? How about tomorrow. I have a tendency live day by day, which is probably why I get myself into so much trouble. As far as writing goes, I just force myself to work in one month increments. Any more long term and I either procrastinate, or go in the opposite direction and get obsessive about meeting the goal.

  7. You're right that writers have to be patient; I think what makes a lot of newbies drop out sooner rather than later is because they don't have the patience to see it through. I know that I gave up more than once when I first started writing fiction.

  8. These next few months are INSANE for me. SO many new books! Trying to help everyone get the word with fun intros ... so time consuming though.

Also still healing from the accident, so that limits me, too. Man I could use a bit of patience now .... waiting to hear from a potential publisher for my book.... pulls hair out. LOL.

  9. The annoying part is that time seems to be measured in seconds and minutes AND months and years, which leaves neurotic people like me scrambling to figure out how to plan ;)

No, I hear you. I can't plan much past next month. Plotting 2015 feels nuts!

  10. Mel, I'm with you. Writing is forcing me into a patience that I just don't want to deal with right now. So, I'm avoiding it. It's a much healthier alternative, you know.
